READING BUDDIES AFTER SCHOOL AT THE RIVERFRONT LIBRARY
We are happy to announce that JCY-Westchester Community Partners has been approved by the State of New York to provide FREE tutoring to students who attend a Yonkers public school that been designated as a School In Need of Improvement (SINI).
We’re calling this new program Reading Buddies After School at The Riverfront Library (RBAS-RFL) and it is an opportunity for qualified volunteers to add a more formal tutoring component to the role of mentor.
The RBAS-RFL mentors will work with students in grades 1-6 to increase literacy skills. The program will attempt to meet each child’s specific needs.
As in all our programs the goal is to enhance our students’ education and improve performance with consistent encouragement and one-on-one attention is a structured, but nurturing atmosphere.
The Reading Buddies After School at The Riverfront Library is currently running on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4pm-5pm at The Riverfront Library. Mentors may choose to work in one or both sessions. Free parking is avialable.
